| For over 20 years, Kristen Anderson-Knowles has passionately Kristen, finally feeling as though she was really making a difference in her patient’s lives, took notice of another issue that plagued the company and decided to become certified in fitting compression garments to help solve the issue. Within no time, working side by side with the leading garment manufactures, Kristen solved these issues with her “out of the box” ideas and custom made garments and ultimately changed the outlook of an entire industry. Still expecting the best Kristen continued working with prosthetics and compression therapy garments while continuing to tackle other issues in her path. The better part of a decade had gone by and Kristen was still on the hunt for ways to improve the overall experience of her patients and coworkers. She found such a way but achieving it would prove to be more difficult than any other issue she took on in previous years. Kristen decided to benefit her, more self conscious, patients she would become a trained and certified wig specialist. The problem she faced was that most wig companies would only train a licensed cosmetologist, which she was not. Kristen would not take no for an answer and found one company that would work with her and from there came in contact with some of the top stylists in the industry. It didn’t take long for Kristen to hit the road shadowing stylist and consultants in the top hair replacement and wig salons in the country. Along the way Kristen made contacts all over the country and in 1998 one of those contacts recruited her to become the assistant coordinator of A Woman’s Place, a boutique in the Woman’s Center at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Here Kristen was able to put to use the skills and knowledge she obtained over the last eight years. Within no time Kristen became the Coordinator of A Woman’s Place and took it in a new direction. In 2007 Kristen was recruited to start up a very similar DME boutique in Alexandria Virginia. Deciding to give one year Kristen moved to the Washington D.C. Metro area and got the company up and running. As the year came to an end Kristen decide to take an opportunity to move to Houston Texas where she could put all of her skills and experience to work in one of the largest medical centers in the world. When Kristen arrived in Houston she began working with Ricky Knowles in a small women’s hair replacement salon where she dove right into increasing the medical hair loss clientele and introduced the company to compression therapy garments. After a year of hard work and dedication Kristen, together with Ricky Knowles, opened Ricky Knowles Hair & Wellness. To this day Kristen continues to be the driving force behind the business and has had continued success impressing top ranking Physicians like Dr. Red Duke, Dr. Caroline Fife, MD, and Dr. Erik A. Maus, MD. |
